The importance of farming

 

I have been a freelance writer in Atlantic Canada for almost 20 years. Starting out as a daily newspaper reporter in rural New Brunswick, I became increasingly aware of the challenges facing today's agriculture industry as I delved into farm-related issues. I now focus primarily on agriculture writing.


I am editor of  FCC Express, a weekly email agriculture newsletter and associate editor of AgriSuccess, a bi-monthly glossy magazine, both distributed by Farm Credit Canada.

I am also editor of Agriculture and AgriFood Canada's Pest Management Centre's newsletter and a contributor to the publication. 

As well, I am a regular contributor to the FCC publications, along with journalists from across the country. AgriSuccess is edited by Kevin Hursh, the Saskatoon-based agriculture communications consultant.

I also want to help you tell your story, working with you to promote your business and your point of view, or teaching you how to tell your story yourself.

Professional Organizations

 

Canadian Farm Writers Federation is an amazing organization of agricultural communicators, including journalists, editors, broadcasters, and business and government communicators. I am the past president of CFWF. Within CFWF are provincial organizations and I was instrumental in the formation of the Atlantic Canada Farm Writers' Association. I am serving as the group's first president.

As part of a regional and national farm writers' organization, I am also a member of the International Federation of Agriculture Journalists, giving me a worldwide network of farm writers and communicators.

 

The Professional Writers Association of Canada represents over 500 professional freelance writers in the country, including myself. I am a professional member and serve on the local chapter's executive.
